Our Story

The Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church ‘St. Nicholas’ owns and operates The Canadian Serbian Community Centre which was built in 1957 and the centre has enjoyed a long-standing reputation as a community hub for close to 70 years. Our principal mandate is to provide a multi-use gathering space for residents of Hamilton.

Our primary purpose is to deliver programs and services, which directly benefit the community. The goal is to continue to make our facility available to the general public, including individuals and groups, for a wide variety of activities, programs, services and events.

We offer an affordable facility, where all people can meet, engage, build connections and experience a sense of belonging in a friendly environment. The centre provides many social and economic benefits to the people of Hamilton and surrounding areas. Our objective is to continue to offer a welcoming, energetic and vibrant space, where people can experience a deep sense of belonging. The facility is also used to directly deliver community-based culture and heritage programs and events, which promote language arts, song and dance, to enrich the lives of people of all ages.
